Even Stamping Should Be Learnt

Indian Dancers narrate stories in the Old Rathaus

„Indian Dance is not just graceful and elegant, but also expression of joy in movement and a medium for propagating knowledge“, explained Rajyashree Ramesh. The audience could convince themselves of this in the Old Rathaus on Saturday afternoon. When gestures and footwork were not clear enough, Rajyashree Ramesh explained the most important movements before every dance. In India all parts of the body, ornaments, language and the „life energy that is within all of us and in every living being“ is used in dance and „even the stamping of the feet has to be learnt“.
